Despite less than optimal weather, John did in fact ride 100 miles and reach the beach, the rain only let up in fits and starts, and we couldn’t have had a nicer few days away. It doesn’t take much to feel human again than cheering on someone you love, wandering bookstores, watching beloved but ridiculous old movies, playing scrabble and just sitting watching the ocean. Just putting a few memories here to come back to and remind myself that it even in the darkest times, there are moments of profound gratitude and belonging. This feeling will likely dissolve halfway into my 7am meeting tomorrow but it doesn’t make it any less real now.
