I love this picture of John and Alice. Parenting was so different when the main requirement was to meet physical needs, contain the whirling dervish mayhem and be available for a tea party at all times. Now I think maybe what we can hope for is to be the shoulder they can lean on, to be a safe harbor in a storm.
