And another birthday happened. Five years ago at 12 with her first guitar and today at 17 with the newest addition to the guitar family. This morning I told her it was T-1 year before I can legally kick her out. Her reply: “Good!” When she was eight she told me she thought she was ready to live on her own, that she would like to get her own apartment. I asked her how she was planning on supporting herself. She immediately replied “selling blackberries, of course.” This kid, this woman, I mean, has been ready to live her big, bold life since she arrived. But she will always be our pea pod.
